The 5 Tyre Compounds

GPRO offers 5 tyre compounds, each with different speed and durability characteristics:

• Extra Soft — fastest but wears out quickly. Best for short stints or low-wear tracks.
• Soft — good balance of speed and durability. Popular choice for 1-2 stop strategies.
• Medium — moderate speed with good longevity. Ideal for 1-stop races on medium-wear tracks.
• Hard — slowest but lasts the longest. Best for high-wear tracks or no-stop strategies.
• Rain — mandatory in wet conditions. Much slower in dry but essential in rain.

Key Rule: Qualifying = Race Compound

In GPRO, the tyre compound you use in qualifying must be the same as in the race. Exception: if it rains during the race, you use Rain tyres regardless of qualifying compound.

How to Choose Your Strategy

The optimal strategy minimizes total time lost — which includes:

• Pit stop time — entering/exiting the pit lane + refueling + tyre change
• TCD (Tyre Compound Degradation) — time lost due to worn tyres
• FLD (Fuel Load Degradation) — time lost carrying heavier fuel

9 Tyre Suppliers

Each GPRO season, you're assigned a tyre supplier. Each has different durability ratings (1-8) that affect how fast tyres wear. Pipirelli and Hancock have the lowest durability, while Avonn and Bridgerock have the highest.
